I believe that a USB device can have some sort of ID number to allow the Mac to tell them apart, but many devices don’t set this up. If you want to use a microphone with a computer, there are better options. The easiest way to ensure two devices appear in the macs audio system, is to use two different models of headset. Windows eventually reloaded some drivers and once her iPhone headset was working, I was able to plug in the Video Micro and verify that it was picking up audio from the mic. I was able to get the VideoMicro working with my wife’s Windows 8.1 Dell laptop. Only thing that fixed it was system restore after the date of headset use. Generally, the Zoom desktop client on Windows supports buttons for devices made by these manufacturers: AVer, Crestron, Jabra, Logitech, Plantronics, Polycom, Shure, Yamaha, and Yealink. Supported USB audio devices on Windows are not limited to this list. I tried going through the setting to set the speakers back and did lots of trouble shooting. You cant use buttons on these devices to end a meeting or hang up a Zoom Phone call. the next time i turned on my PC w/o the headset my PC had no sound.

If I look under Output, it clearly shows that headphones are plugged into the headphone port, but the Mac does not recognize the microphone. Im not sure if it was the reason or not but after using it on PC with windows 8. However when I plug in the VideoMicro and look in System Preferences > Sound under Input I do not see an external microphone listed. I expected it to work with my Mac because I can plug my iPhone headset into the 3.5mm audio jack on my iPhone headsets and both the headphones and microphone work with Skype and FaceTime, etc. USB headset models give you a range of up to 300 feet while shorter range Bluetooth headset models can be used with your cellular phone.

I tried it with both the included Rode TRS patch cable and the Rode SC7 TRRS to TRS patch a cable I used to connect to the Video Micro to my iPhone. Headsets that connect wirelessly to your computer using USB ports or Bluetooth. The Rode VideoMicro did not work with my MacBook Pro.
